Think Through Nutrition supports a food-first approach for improving nutrition; we believe that eating whole foods is the best way to provide essential nutrients needed for the brain and body. Foods that contain the right macro and micronutrients for brain and body health come primarily from vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains and fish, in particular oily fish and other marine-based sources such as algae.
Think Through Nutrition also recognises that it can sometimes be challenging to consume the right level of nutrients to manage or optimise health, and there are times and circumstances where supplementation can help individuals to reach a good nutrient status, at least as a short-term measure. In these circumstances, we would support an individual taking supplements, as required.
In our own work, we have made supplements available in environments where access to highly nutritious foods has not been possible. In these research trials and projects, Think Through Nutrition uses various companies’ products at cost or free of charge. In all cases this information is fully disclosed and we maintain independence in all our relationships. We do not endorse any particular brand or product, advocate on behalf of any particular food or supplement provider, or allow commercial demands to guide our work or any information we share.
